Welcome back, everyone. Wow! It’s finally springtime!! The start of flowers blooming, birds chirping and the famous spring cleaning!!
I know it is a bit of a cliché, but it is always refreshing to do some spring cleaning. And I’m not talking about our home, so drop the window cleaner and have a seat and let’s talk about spring cleaning our mind, body and finance…
Mind
Our state of mind is one of the most important aspects of our lives. Your state of mind controls how you will feel every day, week, months and so on. So we have to make sure that everything is in fine tuning. Now normally in winter some individuals experience S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and normally get depressed. However, spring is finally here and we feel it getting warmer, so shouldn’t our soul feel warm too? So here’s a list of things to cleanse your mental state and become much happier in the springtime.
- Start preparing your garden or getting plants in your house.
- Tackle some goals or recap on your goals that you have not got to in the first quarter of the year.
- Start a new hobby or be reintroduced to an old hobby of yours.
- Make time for your family, friends and/or significant other.
- Give back to the community by volunteering.
- Do not forget to find a moment to laugh or be grateful for being alive another day.
- Release negativity in your life or seek professional help (if needed).
Body
Without a functional body, there is not much you can do. When spring it comes with the season of sickness (e.g. Colds and flu…and do not get me started with the mumps situation) in a rise, it is wise to figure out how to keep your body cleansed as well.
- It is time for your yearly check-up, whether it is the Doctor or the Dentist.
- Detox from the unhealthy food that is not doing any justice for your body.
- Try staying active, walking, jogging or actually do other exercises.
- Water is good for your body, helps remove the toxins.
- Reduce on bad habits or vices that do harm to your body, it takes 21 days to break a habit.
- Meditation, yoga or just rest.
- Boost on Vitamin D or other necessary vitamins/nutrients
Finances
Yes, you can spring clean your finances as well. Especially since most of us have finished our taxes and getting a lovely return (I hope the ones that have to pay back, that it does not break your pockets). You may be thinking of being mindless about your finances; however, this is the perfect time to be wise and think about long-term financial goals. Here are options of being financially stable.
- Keep your tax information in one file/box and keep them for several years.
- Set a budget or re-evaluate your budget.
- Shop for a new bank account or cheaper option.
- Tackling that daunting debt of yours and get rid of the highest interest rate one.
- Initiate thinking about “paying yourself first” and remember your short-term (3-6 months) and long-term (3+ years) savings goals.
- Keep intact with your credit report and learn ways on improving it.
- Think of ways to get passive income, never keep your eggs in one basket.
Now I do not expect you to accomplish all overnight, but try to reshape yourself in the 2nd quarter of the year. Just think of all the possibilities when summer comes around. We all want to be at our best during the summer, so be mindful of being kind to your mind, body and finances.
Also a side note: if you want to read a book about de-cluttering and organizing. I would recommend Marie Kondo
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing I heard great reviews and I am planning to read it after another book. Check it out if you want…
So do you think you can accomplish some of these things I listed? Keep in touch on how it is going during spring and the rest of the year. I like to hear your stories at the end. Enjoy ladies and gents!
